Yakuza 6 Demo Turns into a full game download!!!

If you were one of the lucky few to be one of the first people to download the Yakuza 6: The Song of Life demo yesterday, you were in for a lucky surprise. Yakuza 6’s demo was made available on the Playstation Store earlier yesterday and it was an over 30GB download! The reason for this large download was Sega accidentally released the entire game, with only the opening stages made playable.

The idea for this was that if you later decided to buy this game you’d be purchasing an unlock code to access the full game… that was the idea though.

Some lucky downloaders were left out of the lockout restrictions. Fans quickly realized this after playing to the end point of the demo, but were able to keep on going and earn trophies during their playthrough. It was almost as if it was Christmas for these lucky gamers because they got the new “unreleased” game for free!

Sadly, Sega quickly noticed and pulled the demo from the North American Stores. The European and Australian versions of the demo were however the intended download from Sega and are still available in their Playstation store.

There is no word however on whether Sega will be allowing those players who did get the free download to keep the game on their systems. It will be interesting to see in the next couple days because the idea of the demo was that it would retain the progress the player made in the demo and could continue on when they purchased the game or unlock code.

Let us know if you were one of the few who were able to obtain the game and tell us what you think about this whole downloadable mess.
