Animal Crossing New Horizons Gets Manga Boost
For a few months before its release, Nintendo was releasing a very special mini Nook Inc. manga series for Animal Crossing New Horizons to Promote the Game! Well its turns out that the June issue of Shogakukan’s Coro Coro Comics magazine announced on Friday that Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the newest entry in the Animal Crossing game franchise, is inspiring a manga series to be released in the next issue of the magazine in June.

A one-shot manga for the game was also published in the current issue. Kokonasu Runpa drew a single shot and will also draw a serialization. The April issue of the magazine also released Runpa’s one-shot manga for the March game. The game also inspired Minori Katō ‘s separate manga series Atsumare Dōbutsu no Mori: Nonbiri Shima Dayori (Animal Crossing: New Horizons-Carefree Island News), published in Ciao magazine Shogakukan last December.
The game is the first in the Nintendo Switch series. The game was originally scheduled for shipment last year, but was postponed until March 20, 2020. The game sold 1,88 million copies in Japan in its first three days, the largest ever amount of first-week copies sold for the Switch game in Japan. As of April 26, Japan sold 3.89 million copies of the game.
Previous main game Animal Crossing, Animal Crossing: Fresh Leaf, created for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan in 2012 and North America in 2013. Since then, Nintendo has launched the game-style for the Wii U game. An Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival and the game Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer 3DS. The Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp app game was released in November 2017 on smart phones.
