Atari Hotel Is Coming. (Not Click Bait)

Since the  1970s, Atari has been a household name for their arcade games and home video game consoles. Now Atari is branching out to the hospitality industry. Atari has signed a contract using their iconic name and branding to a real estate developer. The plan is to build eight hotels across the United States in the following cities: Phoenix, Austin, Denver, Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle.

Atari, a trailblazer in the gaming industry, is pioneering an exciting new concept: a unique lodging experience combining the iconic brand with a one-of-a-kind video game-themed destination. Atari Hotels level up hotel entertainment with fully immersive experiences for every age and gaming ability, including the latest in VR and AR (Virtual and Augmented Reality). Select hotels will also feature state-of-the-art venues and studios to accommodate esports events. Currently, there are no additional details about what these will include, but each hotel will have an “Atari gaming playground”. We believe that these “playgrounds” could be lounges for pros and guests to relax and play their favorite games on well equipped gaming PCs. The hotel will also offer a standard pool and gym, restaurants, bars, bakeries, and a movie theater.

More than 2.5 billion gamers across the world spent more than $152.1 billion (US) on games in 2019 alone; an increase of +9.6% year on year. One of the most distinctive trends in gaming is gamers gravitating toward recognizable intellectual property. Atari Hotels will offer consumers exactly that, marrying the origins of gaming and the future of the booming industry into a fun and unique travel destination.

This new hotel concept was created with the idea in mind that Atari would be the perfect way to give guests the ‘nostalgic and retro’ feeling that fans love. Atari Hotels will be the first of its kind in the US offering gamers of all ages an ultimate immersion entertainment in every aspect of gaming.

It is exciting to watch ground break at their first location in Phoenix, Arizona. It is still unknown when  the hotel will be finished. If these hotels are a success, we could see more establishments pop up in the future because Atari retains the right to develop and create similar properties.
