The film’s story focuses on Kanna, a girl who can no longer face her beloved “running” after her mother’s passing. One day, a rabbit named Shiro, who is a shinshi (a messenger of gods), and a boy named Yasha, an oni (ogre) boy, appear at her. Kanna crosses the boundary between people and gods, and is invited into Izumo. Aju Makita (Shino-chan wa Jibun no Namae ga Ienai live-action film) is cast as the protagonist Kanna, alongside Maaya Sakamoto as Shiro and Miyu Irino as Yasha.

Cretica Universal, along with its first crowdfunding campaign, announced the project in March 2019. The campaign marked the start of the “first commitment” project from March to May last year, with the second crowdfunding campaign from July to August last year as its “second commitment.”

LIDEN FILMS representative director Tetsuro Satomi is the project’s animation producer. She and Her Cat -Everything Flows- director Kazuya Sakamoto is the “creation director.” Toshinari Shinohe is in charge of planning and credited for the original work, while Takana Shirai is credited with the original concept and as animation director. Michihiko Suwa (Detective Conan films) and Teppei Mishima are planners and producers for the project. Haruka Sagawa is the character designer. Tetsurō Takita and Ryūta Miyake are penning the script.
