On March 6 at 8:00 p.m. JST (6:00 a.m. EST), a special show will air on the Kadokawa Anime YouTube channel to unveil further details about the sequel. The show will include Shya Chiba (voice of Kiyotaka Ayanokji) and Yurika Kubo (voice of Kiky Kushida). The first light novel was published in May 2015 by Kadokawa’s Media Factory Bunko J imprint. To honor the novel’s release, Kadokawa made two animated adverts (the videos are no longer available). After publishing a spinoff “volume 4.5” in September 2016, Kadokawa published the novel’s fifth volume on January 25.

In July 2017, the first 12-episode television anime series aired. The anime was broadcast on Crunchyroll, and an English dub was aired on Funimation. The light novels Ykoso Jitsuryoku Shij Shugi no Kyshitsu e: 2-nen Sei Hen (Ykoso Jitsuryoku Shij Shugi no Kyshitsu e: 2-nen Sei Hen) are a sequel to the main light book series.

The 15th overall book in the series, the first novel volume of the new second year series, appeared in Japan in January 2020. (the series has three “in-between” short story anthology volumes prior to the start of the second-year arc). In December, Shia Sasane released a manga adaption. The novels will be published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment.
