David Hasselhoff is selling KITT. It is a completely functional replica of the artificially smart Trans Am presented in the TV series of the ’80s.
There are few cars in the 80’s that are more popular for gracing the small screen than the updated 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am David Hasselhoff drove. And now yours may be the actor’s personal version of the all-black muscle car.
Later this month, LiveAuctioneers will auction off Hoff’s personal KITT car, along with other mementos from his decades-long singing and acting career. While there are hundreds of things that are sure to appeal to the most devoted fans of the former Baywatch star, such as clothes, props, and signed headshots, none have the same pop-culture cachet as the iconic sports car of the 80s.
LiveAuctioneers says, however, that if the “hammer price exceeds 25 percent above the reserve price, The Hoff will personally deliver the car to the new owner.” The estimate is set at $175,000 – $300,000, and at $450,000 the latest highest bid is well over that (though Car and Driver notes it may actually only be about half that).
