The Dreadwolf is an allusion to Solas, as fans of the series will recognize. Solas, a magical member of the party and possible romantic interest in Dragon Age: Inquisition, without getting into spoiler territory. BioWare has published an official blog that is low on details but digs more into Solas’ story.

“Solas, the Dread Wolf. Some say he might be an ancient elven god, but some say not,” the blog says. “Others say a betrayer of his people… or a savior who now seeks to rescue them at the cost of your world. His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster deity — a player of dark and dangerous games.”

Who is the Dread Wolf?

The use of Solas’ name “no doubt evokes a spectrum of unlimited possibilities of where things may go,” according to BioWare. But, like with every previous game, you are at the heart of this.” Solas has been hyped for the upcoming Dragon Age game since 2018, but BioWare says fans old and new will get their opportunity to encounter the Dread Wolf in due course.
