Indie Spotlight Showcase Double Feature!

Welcome back to the Indie Spotlight showcase! My name is Alexander Trapp and I’ll take you through the Indie Monday twitter thread from this past two Mondays of July 6th and 13th, 2020, where you can see the latest works of some amazing independent artists and content creators!

Let’s get into this DOUBLE FEATURE!

Spotlight 1.jpg

First up with our gaming double feature, we have this retrospective on the classic PS1 fighting game, Tekken 3. Covered by the fantastic efforts of The Affro Show, you will be instantly pulled back in time to the late 90s, where the fast paced action of Namco (now Bandai Namco)’s 3D fighter ruled all with an amazing cast of characters, tight controls, and a rocking soundtrack!

Spotlight 2

For our second feature in the gaming sphere, check out this co-op video from Tim Foolery Gaming where he and his friend Silverlance take on the deadly world of Dark Souls Remastered! Will the two men succeed in not being horribly skewered by the monsters and other uglies that inhabit this world? Or is it pretty much what you expect from these Souls style games? Click the picture above to find out!

You won’t be disappointed in getting a look at the great art from writer/artist Suren, who is penning her own fantasy book and illustrating the events and characters from her story! The epic story is titled Jade Kingdoms and once you start reading it, you’ll find that you won’t want to put it down. The characters are mesmerizing and the world they inhabit is vast. It’s a perfect escape for those looking for their next tale to get lost in. Check out the art and the story itself in the links provided!

Spotlight 4

Speaking of fantasy, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the ever talented Tera C. Music! Today we’re able to show her latest work, and it’s not a video game cover song. Tera was able to get involved with the music production of The Lord of the Rings Online MMO and create a song for the wedding of Aragorn and Arwen! This beautiful music is evocative of what you’d hear from The Lord of the Rings movies and is a short but sweet treat to listen to! Many congratulations to Tera for having an opportunity to add her work to the world of Middle Earth! Click the picture above to listen!

This video comes courtesy of YouTube r, Jeffrey Turner aka MegaJetty1 and offers some possibilities that fans of Harry Potter and Marvel may have missed out on. Returning to the Indie Spotlight section is G8ter Byte, who today shows a day in her life when she visits her grandparents for a 4th of July celebration and a birthday celebration thrown in as well. Also making a special guest appearance is G8ter’s mother, affectionately known as Mama G8ter. Sometimes you just need to be around the people you love, especially in times such as these. Click the picture above and check out this heartwarming glimpse into G8ter’s life!

In today’s crowdfunding feature, we’ll show two projects that are currently being funded on both Kickstarter and Indiegogo.

Spotlight 9.jpg

The first project is from writer/creator Matt Trinh who brings us their project called Mythics. Mythics Issue one is described here; “In Issue One of Mythics, Elthia Fletcher, an agent of the Mythic Order, rescued a baby changeling named Arlene from a coven of witches set to sacrifice the baby to summon a demon lord. While Elthia was able to complete her job, complications arose when the coven alerted the Order of the Carolingian Cross. The rival Order sent a paladin team to investigate the baby’s kidnapping. Sensing a greater conspiracy in the shadows, Elthia watches over Arlene with her fiance, Jarel, their familiars, and the newly arrived Morella.”

To learn more about the story, click the picture above and consider supporting the comic! Currently there’s 6 days to go in the campaign and only $250 left to donate until the project reaches its goal! If you can’t support, please spread the word around so that other people know about the story!

Spotlight 6

For the next comic crowdfunding project we have Jack Irons #3 by Cody Hernandez and Wikid Publishing! This mature western genre comic is the third issue in the Jack Irons series and features the main character facing off against an ancient foe from his past. The comic issue is described this way;

“A mysterious figure from Jack’s past has returned, to challenge him.

What does their centuries long and violent series of yesterdays mean for Jack’s future?

Why has Earth’s legendary “Top Predator” returned for Jack after a century of silence?

Only one way to find out Kind Readers.”

Though this could also fall under the gaming category, this video shows off the new updates being made to the indie video game in development called Ralf’s Adventure: Aztec Mystery! Made by indie game developer George Sears, Ralf’s Adventure is made in the style of classic Legend of Zelda games from Nintendo, but with a fun new take on that kind of top down gaming adventure! Give the new trailer a watch and subscribe to George’s channel to get future updates on the game!

Spotlight 7

And finally, we have the story that advertised today’s double feature! It is a fantastically drawn indie comic called Star Ring, created by Twitter user Jupiter Ripple, with art by Amanda Panda (Neptuneink) as well as Eri Bloodberry, and edited by Real Life Kirito, this is not just another fantasy comic, but a comic created in the traditional style of Japanese Manga with art worthy to match the best of creations from that part of the world. The story itself will take you on an action packed ride into a world inspired by 1860’s America and Traditional Japan, filled with magic users, swords-women, and monsters!
