Anticipated ‘Invader Zim’ and ‘Rocko’s Modern Life’ Films Coming To Netflix

Earlier this week Netflix revealed that the highly anticipated films of Invader Zim and Rocko’s Modern Life are finally coming to Netflix. The Viacom company mentioned during their earnings call to investors that they had sold the rights to both films to the streaming giant. Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling and Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus are their respective titles.

In both films, the original voice casts with reprise their roles. Their respective writers and directors are also behind the scenes to ensure continuity. If you remember last year, these movies were talked about during San Diego Comic Con 2018. Or if memory serves, then at least the Invader Zim film was teased. Invader Zim debuted on Nickelodeon in 2001 and ran for a total of 27 episodes across two seasons. The series won an Emmy Award for outstanding individual achievement in animation and an Annie Award for outstanding individual achievement for storyboarding in an animated television production before it was canceled in the second season.

Enter The Flopus! Synopsis!

ZIM discovers his almighty leaders never had any intention of coming to Earth and he loses confidence in himself for the first time in his life, which is the big break his human nemesis, Dib has been waiting for.

Static Cling Synopsis

After being in space for many years, Rocko and his friends attempt to adjust to an even more modern life.

Although as mentioned previously, both movies are written and directed by the original creators and also feature many of the original voice actors. Release dates have not yet been announced.

Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus! is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio in collaboration with Maven Animation Studio in South Korea. During the Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus! panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 20, 2018, Jhonen revealed that they had written the movie in 2015 and that at the time of the panel, they were currently in the process of getting first take animation back from their overseas animation team, Maven Animation Studio.
