On Sunday, the Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime’s 10th-anniversary virtual event announced that the project will get a new anime film titled Gekijban Mah Shjo Madoka Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten (Turning the Tide of Walpurgis). Returning cast members include Akiyuki Simbo, Gen Urobuchi, Yuki Kajiura, and SHAFT.

The anime movie has secured the original staff from the initial anime series and films, this includes creators of Magica Quartet, executive director Akiyuki Simbo, scriptwriter Gen Urobuchi of Nitroplus, primary character designer Ume Aoki, animation character designer Junichirō Taniguchi, composer Yuki Kajiura, environment designer Gekidan Inu Curry, and animation studio SHAFT.

On Monday, a two-disc soundtrack for the franchise will be released on the streaming platforms Spotify and Apple Music around the planet. In late September, a show will open in Tokyo, with plans to expand to other cities.

The event also indicated that the Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story smartphone game will feature an original piece called “Mah Shjo Madoka Magica scene0.” The initial 12-episode Puella Magi Madoka Magica broadcast anime aired in January 2011, and the series was later released on Crunchyroll.

In October 2012, the Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 1: Beginnings and Part 2: Eternal compilation films were released in Japan, followed by the Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion sequel film in October 2013. In United States, Aniplex of America released the television series, two compilation films, and the continuation film. The anime is also available to watch on Funimation, which explains the plot as follows:

Puella Magi is a television anime adaptation of the Magia Record. In January 2020, the smartphone game Madoka Magica Side Story was released. The anime was streamed online on Funimation, Crunchyroll, and HIDIVE. A second season of the anime will be released.
