Akiba Zettai Ryoiki has made a name for itself because it is foreigner-friendly and has a super kawaii vibe. Their maids are usually very energetic and have cat ears that go along with their maid outfits. The translation from Google on their website does not translate well, “a maid cafe where cats (cast members) who want to show their gratitude to humans can take on a human form and wait on customers within the confines of a Zettai Ryoiki 絶対領域 (meaning ‘absolute zone’).” The term Zettai Ryoiki is actually a euphemism for that sexy area between skirt and stocking. This is often tied to the maid look in Japan.

Akiba Zettai Ryoiki has been gradually growing its operations and offerings with their themed cafes. Previous/current cafes include Akiba Zettai Ryoiki +e has a pastel neon interior and is billed as a 2.5-dimensional space focused on gaming culture, and Akiba Zettai Ryoiki A.D. 1912. The A.D. 1912 has an upscale gothic style theme to it with a massive wine library.

Since Akiba Zettai Ryoiki is one of the most popular of maid cafes, this will be their fourth and most arguably the coolest. Since Geek Impulse is partial to Cyberpunk and Kawaii aesthetics. This Cyberpunk-Kawaii Fusion. The way maids will be in the future of course.

The cafe’s second-floor sign, easy to spot with its pop design and manga-style onomatopoeia sound effects in neon katakana letters, features background art by popular creator Tatsumi Tsurushima つるしまたつみ and the cafe’s neon-framed logo is designed by Ryo Hiiragi 柊涼, who also designed the logo for No Game No Life.
