PlayStation Plus Free Games

Sony has revealed what will be available as the PlayStation Plus Free Games in June 2021: Operation: Tango, Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown, and Star Wars: Squadrons are just a few of the games available.

Unlike the PlayStation Plus free games in the past few months which were different in Asia, every PlayStation region will have the same free lineup.

Operation: Tango is a two-player cooperative spy game in which agents and hackers work together to “infiltrate, probe, and exterminate the forces endangering the free world.” Operation: Tango involves voice conversation, thus both players will need a working microphone to play. The PS5 version of the game is available to PS Plus subscribers.

Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown, which was recently announced for PS4, will be available. Yakuza creator Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega AM2 collaborated on this “feature-rich” version of the PS3 original. Virtua Fighter 5 will be accessible for two months, starting June 1 and ending August 2, in a departure from regular PS+ practices.

Star Wars: Squadrons is a starfighter combat simulator set in the Star Wars universe, produced by EA’s Motive team. Players operate starships on both the Imperial and New Republic sides, engaging in deathmatch-style multiplayer and Fleet Warfare, a team-based mode. A single-player campaign is also included in Star Wars: Squadrons, in which gamers see both sides of the post-Return of the Jedi combat. Squadrons on PlayStation 4 is compatible with PlayStation VR.

Overall, it’s been a good month. You have a relatively new Star Wars game as well as two completely new releases that will be free to members at launch. While some members are delighted with the service, there has been some negative feedback. It’s minor in comparison to the fanfare that Xbox Games with Gold has received this year, but it’s significant in comparison to the reception that PlayStation Plus has received for the first half of this year with regards to their PlayStation Plus free games.
