With each passing year, gaming has forced innovation to levels not thought possible before. This is due in part to the amazing graphical advances. Today we are discussing the line between what is real and what is unreal. Next Generation technology that in real-time can create real digital humans such as Siren, real-time performance.


Epic Games, makers of the wildly popular Fortnite, is leading the event, debuting Siren at this year’s Game Developer Conference. Using this technology, time is saved and labor cost is saved as there is no longer any reason for characters to be hand-drawn.  There has been considerable improvements to eyes, skin, and hair. So meet “Siren,” a high-fidelity, real-time digital character based on the likeness of Chinese actress Bingjie Jiang.



Epic along with CubicMotion, 3Lateral, Tencent, and Vicon are working to fast track the innovative tech which can have a live actor perform in real time and instantly be inserted into the onscreen environment. With the heavy influence these days of CGI in movies, this technology can also potentially be used in Hollywood and not just video games.
The CTO of Epic games stated, “When we began working on Siren, real-time performance, we knew from the beginning that it was going to push several boundaries. To make this possible we needed the best motion capture hardware and software.” Here is a Tweet from the company itself:
