When Kazuya’s true love dumps him, he’s just desperate enough to try it, and he’s shocked at how cute and sweet his rental girlfriend turns out to be. But she wants to keep their “relationship” a secret, and there’s a complication… she goes to his university… and their grandmothers are in the same home… and they live next door to each other?! Rent a Girlfriend Anime is directed by Kazuomi Koga at TMS Entertainment, with character designs by Kanna Hirayama, and composition for the series is by Mitsutaka Hirota. The music is going to be from Hyadain. The anime series will be broadcast on the Animeism Block on MBS / TBS in Japan starting July 10.

The manga translates Kazuma’s username to show how it was inspired by aquariums. Instead of just being a love-struck college student in the plot, this quirk really helps display some of Kazuya’s personality.

While viewers understand that Ruka has a heart that normally doesn’t get excited, the anime doesn’t really go into her health condition. A complete chapter in the manga is dedicated to describing that Ruka still had a sluggish heartbeat.

In the anime, Mami is toned down a little, likely to make fans like her a little bit more. In the manga, though, her bad attitude, especially when messing with Chizuru on their date, is shown to be much crueler.

The wording and way the characters are presented in the manga use more mature language. The characters speak in a more mature tone, except for Ruka, who seems more childlike in most of the manga panels. In particular, Chizuru feels more like a young college girl in the manga, and Kazuya is a lot blunter than he is in the Rent A Girlfriend Anime, and he is much more awful to Ruka.
