No word yet if the games world-wide release will be delayed indefinitely on June 25th.

Sega has halted its spin-off of the Yakuza franchise game Judgement in Japan. The voice actor Pierre Taki has been arrested for cocaine use. Taki was the model for the character Kyohei Hamura as well as the voice actor. In Japan, the game is called Judge Eyes and was released on the PS4 in December. Pierre, according to the site The Mainichi, his urine sample tested positive for cocaine and he also later admitted to using a small quantity.

In response to these allegations/confession, Sega released a statement:

The arrest of Pierre Taki, who is featured in our company’s title Judge Eyes, is something we find deeply regrettable. We have heard the reports of his arrest, and are currently confirming the facts of the situation, but in the meantime, we have decided to voluntarily halt shipments of physical copies of the game as well as digital sales, and also to remove the game from our company website. We apologize for any trouble this causes our customers or other concerned parties.

About the game

A lawyer pulls off a miracle, only to have the verdict cost him everything. Now, as a string of murders casts a shroud over the city and the law begins to fail, justice cannot afford to be blind.

The son of a murdered lawyer, Takayuki Yagami was raised on the streets of Kamurocho by a yakuza patriarch who paves the way for Yagami to follow in his real father’s footsteps. Taking a job at the Genda Law Office, Yagami accepts a high-profile case: Proving Shinpei Okubo, a man suspected of murder, innocent

In Japan, when a celebrity gets arrested for illegal drug use (Pierre Taki being the latest), or some other offense, companies stop selling their music, videos, pull movies they are appearing in, cut commercial and public appearances. What do you think of this practice known as 自粛 jishuku, or “self-restraint?”
