In 2012, Matsui then released Assassination Classroom, and ended the series with 21 volumes in March 2016. In English, Viz Media released the manga. A 22-episode television anime series was inspired by the manga in 2015, and the 25-episode second season of the show premiered in 2016. Both series were streamed by Funimation and released on home video.

The manga also influenced the Movie Assassination Classroom: 2016’s 365 Days’ Time anime film, and 2015 and 2016’s two live-action movie adaptations. The Quest of Koro Sensei! The net anime series and an anime movie were also influenced by spinoff manga.
