Animation Filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki to be Honored with 2019 Sklar Creative Visionary Award

This year the Sklar Creative Visionary Award will be going to the Academy Award Winning Filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki. If you are a regular reader, then you are someone who is familiar with his work. The award is meant to honor his achievements that have crossed cultures and borders. His work is vast and profound. His ability to telling stories is what has captivated and inspired generations of animators, directors around the world.

Ryman Arts presents this award each year to someone who has made a significant contribution to society with their creativity. The filmmaker has 10 feature films and 11 television series to his credits and is currently working on a new project at Studio Ghibli in Tokyo, Japan, which he co-founded more than 30 years ago. In 2014 Miyazaki was honored with Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Honorary Award for Lifetime Achievement along with two Oscar nominations and one win for the 2001 animated film, Spirited Away.
