The Episodic Adventure Company Telltale Games is Back. (Not Everyone is Happy)

If you were sad about Telltale games shutting down, have no fear because they are coming back. This is due because a company called LCG Entertainment purchased the companies assets. LCG will sell some of the companies properties and has decided to work on new games and new licenses. The new people in charge of heading up the company are Jamie Ottilie and Brian Waddle. Free-lance positions will first be available for those who originally worked with the company and they will have first dibs on full-time positions when they become available according to Ottilie.

For those not familiar with Ottilie, his career has been centered around mobile games and has recently founder and CEO of Galaxy Pest Control. That company is known for such games based on the Power Rangers and Duck Dynasty. Waddle, on the other hand, has experience marketing for the Havok game engine. Fans of the original company are not very happy with this news. See tweet below.

Polygon was able to get an interview with Ottilie. During the interview confirmed that the new business has back-catalog rights to licensed propertiesĀ The Wolf Among UsĀ andĀ BatmanĀ as well as full rights to original Telltale games such as Puzzle Agent. ā€œThere are some other expired licenses that weā€™re looking at,ā€ he said.

Telltale games seemingly collapsed as a company overnight back in September of 2018. This collapse left 270 people without a job. A former Telltale narrative designer by the name of Emily Grace highlighted a catalog of errors by those in the upper management. The new Telltale Games will be based in Malibu, California. Publisher Athlon Games is a partner in the deal and will handle storefront operations and distribution. Financial backers include various game industry figures, including Chris Kingsley (Rebellion), Lyle Hall (Heavy Iron Studios), and Tobias Sjƶgren (formerly of Starbreeze).
