March 8, 2021, BURBANK, CA — DC, Warner Bros. Multinational Brands and Experiences, and WarnerMedia are adding the “Wonder” to International Women’s Day by introducing a global celebration honoring DC’s Champion of Truth and Warrior for Peace, Wonder Woman, and her 80-year legacy.
The Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary celebration embraces the call to “Believe in Wonder,” illuminating the Super Hero’s enduring and topical message of hope and empowerment through original material, commemorative comics, novels, and global fashion collections and experiences. This multi-month initiative will culminate on October 21 with worldwide Wonder Woman Day festivities.
Global Brand Partnerships Kick-off
DC and WarnerMedia have released a powerful video inspired by the Amazonian that highlights the global influence of women and the powerful women featured in the Company’s content and goods. This year, WarnerMedia will release 80 “Women of Wonder” videos, featuring actual women, network journalists and talent, cultural icons, experts, influencers, and celebrities who, like Wonder Woman, are advancing inclusion in their fields, acting as real-life superheroes, and giving us reasons to “Believe in Wonder.”
Venus Williams, Camilla, and Azede Jean-Pierre, three internationally renowned designers, partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products on inspired fashion collections. International tennis champion and entrepreneur Venus Williams’ EleVen “I Am Wonder Woman” activewear line is now available. A luxury limited-edition collection by Australian designer Camilla is also accessible, and award-winning designer Azede Jean-Pierre will unveil a custom collection of never-before-seen artwork later this month.
Beginning today, DC will make All-Star Comics #8 (Icons first appearance), Sensation Comics #1 (The Goddesses first comic), and Wonder Woman #1 (1942) available for free on DC UNIVERSE INFINITE, the ultimate fan destination for DC. So jump on that immediately.
Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Spectacular
Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Spectacular, also revealed today, will put together some of the best storytellers in comics and media for a collectible keepsake salute to the legend herself. Original stories and a stunning art compilation by Eisner Award-winning artist Yanick Paquette (Wonder Woman: Earth One) with colors by Nathan Fairbairn will be available on Wonder Woman Day in October.
In the United States, the hit 1984 film starring Gal Gadot will be released in Digital HD on March 16, followed by 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on March 30. In addition, on April 27, the animated feature Justice Society: World War II will be available on digital, and on 4K and Blu-ray on May 11, the animated film Justice Society: World War II will be released on digital, 4K, and Blu-ray. 1984 will be available digitally throughout international territories during March on affiliated digital platforms.
DC is releasing new custom art that pays homage to Wonder Woman’s past while still looking forward to her future. INNOCEAN USA, which also produced the 80th anniversary logo, created the pop art concept, which was inspired by artist Nicola Scott’s iconic cover of Wonder Woman #4 (2016).
