Yu Yu Hakusho is the symbol of what Anime is. In our opinion. We will also dive into some mysteries about the series.
The Attitude of the show was one that catches people’s attention when seeing it for the first time. Why? Well because of the mild cursing, blood, panties and demons, and even superpowers. If you have not seen the anime yet, please do not read on cause there will be spoilers.
Before one selfless act changed his life… by ending it, Yusuke Urameshi was a tough teen delinquent. The afterlife didn’t know what to do with him when he died rescuing a little kid from a speeding car, so it gave him a second chance at life. Now, Yusuke is a projected ghost, doing good deeds at the behest of Botan, the spirit guide of the dead, and Koenma, her pacifier-sucking boss. This is Yu Yu Hakusho.
Yu Yu Hakusho makes you wonder how it is Yusuke is so damn powerful. Well, there is a reason for that. Even though he is just a young human, he always comes out on top in his experiences with otherworldly demons. It is not until later in the series that we begin to understand why, in the first place, he was so strong. Yusuke happens to be a hybrid half-human/half-demon. In creation, there are only a few demons more powerful than him.
One of the reasons we love this anime YU YU Hakusho is because of a key theme. Family is what you make it. A broken home isn’t necessarily a broken world. Instead, it’s just a crappy piece of it. When the dark tournament comes we start to see the lines blur between those that are human and those that are demons. The tournament is hosted by greedy businessmen that gamble on life and death.
In the tournament, you have demons who want to win because they have a chance at a wish for whatever they want. The question about Yu Yu Hakusho is, is there any love in this heavy action-packed series? The answer to that is yes. Although their love is not at the same level as some other famous anime couples, the series’ greatest romantic partnership is Keiko and Yusuke.
In the Yu Yu Hakusho series where their love commences, there is never a definite delineation that lets u know if it was an occurrence that sparked it at first sight or affection over time. But the manga ends up giving us a little bit more details than the anime, describing since childhood their intimate and very romantic relationship.
The show really deals with overcoming injustice and how to deal with corruption. This makes the show more relateable. The show lest you know that you cannot take on the world alone. There are just some issues that cannot be solved by yourself. Even the managa creator Yoshihiro Togashi had to end it sooner than he would have liked. He said that the stress and too much pressure to keep up with the publication was overwhleming. Its the fight and the effort we put in is what defines us.
A fun bit of trivia from Fandom, In the Filipino Dub, throughout the anime series’ run, some other scenes involving violence, revolving genders, and gore are cut off or they never dubbed the scene as both the English and Japanese Versions do not cut the scene. Some other grunts from various characters in the anime are taken from the FUNimation English Dub as other Filipino voice actors would briefly do the grunting during the Dub.
